What are gas boilers for private heating. An overview of the types of gas heating boilers for a private house. Gas condensing boilers

Russia belongs to countries with a very harsh climate. In most of its territory, winters are very cold. Having heating in your home is vital. Practice shows that one of the best options for organizing the heating of a building is the use of gas as a fuel, and the most popular are outdoor gas units.

We will talk about what are floor gas heating boilers. From the article presented by us, you will learn how the equipment works, what it needs for stable uptime. In order to facilitate the selection of the optimal model, we analyze the main criteria and characteristics of the best options.

Manufacturers of gas boilers produce a variety of modifications of heating appliances. All of them can be divided into floor and wall devices.

The latter are compact and have good performance characteristics. And yet, many prefer outdoor equipment, which is explained by its significant advantages.

The advantages of floor boilers include:

  • Great power. The design of the devices is such that they are capable of delivering much more power than wall-mounted counterparts.
  • The presence of non-volatile models capable of permanently or temporarily working with a coolant moving without using a pump.
  • Equipment durability and reliability. Properly selected and installed boiler, subject to proper operation, can work for 50 years or more.
  • Economy and ease of operation. Floor boilers, unlike wall-mounted ones, are most often produced without built-in automation and additional equipment. This greatly simplifies the maintenance of devices, their repair and extends the service life.

Of course, the use of outdoor equipment involves some inconveniences and limitations. These include the mandatory presence of a separate room - in which the boiler should be placed.

There are a number of requirements for such premises, each of them must be strictly observed. Otherwise, it will not be possible to obtain permission to install and start gas equipment.

gas boilers in the floor version they are large and massive, but at the same time they are more powerful, reliable and durable compared to wall-mounted counterparts

The dimensions of the furnace or boiler room are selected based on the fact that not only the boiler, but also all the necessary additional equipment can fit here. The requirements of SNiP are also taken into account.

The need for furnace equipment increases the cost of installing the boiler. In addition, the arrangement of the chimney, floor preparation, etc. will also be required. Accordingly, the cost of installing a floor-standing boiler will be much higher than a wall-mounted one.

Varieties of floor heating devices

Boilers can be classified according to a variety of criteria. Let's look at the main characteristics that affect the quality of operation of devices.

Number of circuits in the device

The boiler can have one or two working circuits built in. In the first case, the device will only heat the coolant, that is, it will function as a heating device.

Such equipment is equipped with one heat exchanger, which greatly simplifies its design and reduces the size. True, the latter also depends on the power of the device. If single-circuit equipment is installed, an additional unit will be required to heat water.

If a single-circuit boiler is used in the heating system, then to provide the house hot water need to install an additional water heater

In this case, you can put in addition, for example, or any other device. Single-circuit boilers are chosen for heating objects that do not require hot water supply or for large houses, where all the power of the device will go to heat the building.

Double-circuit models are able to simultaneously heat the coolant and heat the water for household needs. Two heat exchangers are built in, which significantly complicates the design.

There are models with the so-called bithermic heat exchanger, which is divided into segments. The coolant moves along one of them, the heating water moves along the other. Such devices are as compact as possible, but less reliable and easy to use.

The best option can be considered units with two completely separate heat exchangers. They form less scale. In addition, the circuits are separated, so it is not necessary to block the heating segment at the time of dispensing hot water. Whereas in boilers with a bithermic heat exchanger, this is exactly what happens.

Double-circuit boilers are best used for small residential buildings. On large areas, mandatory separation of circuits is required, which is due to safety requirements, lack of total power, etc.

Combustion chamber type

Heating boilers can be equipped with an open or closed chamber. In the first option, only natural draft is used to operate the unit.

This assumes that the oxygen necessary for the combustion process enters the chamber from the room in which the appliance is installed. The boiler independently, without the help of any additional equipment, takes the amount of air necessary for its operation.

A boiler with an open chamber can operate without the use of pressurization, which makes it non-volatile. True, such devices require certain conditions for safe operation.

Thus, the room must be equipped with effective ventilation. In addition, for the normal operation of this type of boiler, it is necessary to install a vertical type, which will provide normal draft. Among the advantages of boilers with such a chamber are energy independence and relatively low cost, but they give out less power.

Devices with a closed chamber are distinguished by the presence of a fan that supplies air into the device and removes flue gases from it. Therefore, the boiler does not take oxygen from the room.

The chimney in this case is also significantly different. It is installed where two pipes are nested one inside the other. The internal one is intended for the removal of combustion products, and the outside air is supplied through the external one.

The coaxial chimney can be installed not only vertically, but also at some angle horizontally. The presence of a fan guarantees stable traction.

The closed chamber increases the efficiency of the boiler. This is due to the fact that there is a maximum afterburning of the fuel. Thus, the advantages of such boilers include higher efficiency, better efficiency, lower fuel consumption.

For gas boilers with closed chambers, the use of a coaxial chimney is mandatory. The system provides air supply to the combustion zone and removal of flue gases

In addition, they are safer due to the fact that the combustion cycle inside the device is completely isolated. Among the shortcomings, it is worth noting the volatility of devices, which is highly undesirable in areas where power outages are not uncommon. In order for the operation of the boiler not to be affected by interruptions in the supply of electricity, it is recommended in the equipment connection diagram.

Due to the operation of the fan, such boilers are quite noisy and their cost is much higher compared to analogues with an open chamber.

The material from which the heat exchanger is made

Floor-standing boilers can be equipped with three types of heat exchangers. Definitely say which one is better, it is difficult to analyze the features of each. The cast iron heat exchanger does not corrode. He is immune to heat shock and acid attacks.

With proper operation, such a part can last 20-30 years. The main disadvantage of cast iron is its brittleness, which is important to consider during its transportation and operation.

Before installation, it is recommended to carefully check the heat exchanger for cracks. In the process of using the boiler, it is very important to maintain the desired temperature regime and not allow a temperature difference between the return and supply of 45 ° or more.

Otherwise, the heat exchanger may crack. Another disadvantage of cast iron is big weight, which makes it difficult to install the part and its subsequent dismantling if necessary.

The best choice for a gas boiler is a cast iron heat exchanger. Such parts are not subject to corrosion, durable and reliable. The only significant drawback is fragility

Heat exchangers made of steel are lighter and more durable. They are not prone to cracking and are not subject to deformation. Their main disadvantage is susceptibility to corrosion and burnout.

Depending on the quality of alloy steel average term service life of the steel assembly will be 10-15 years. If the operating conditions are violated, the part will fail much earlier.

Extending the life of a steel heat exchanger is quite simple. It must be ensured that the temperature inside the boiler does not fall below the “dew point” value for flue gases. If this happens, condensation will form on the walls of the part.

It is carbonic acid dissolved in water. Aggressive substance will damage the heat exchanger. Thus, it is necessary to constantly maintain a sufficiently high temperature inside the boiler, which leads to higher fuel consumption.

Copper heat exchangers are characterized by excellent thermal conductivity, corrosion resistance and low weight. However, they are rarely installed in floor boilers. This is due to the high cost and "capriciousness" of the metal. During the operation of a powerful outdoor appliance, copper wears out very quickly. For this option is more suitable.

Device burner type

The floor boiler burner can be one, two-stage or modulating. The first option assumes that the device always produces only one power level. Two-stage allows you to choose one of two levels.

Modulation involves smooth regulation (modulation) of the power output by the device. It must be understood that the maximum power of the heater is not always in demand.

The modulating type burner allows you to adjust the power of the boiler, which allows you to significantly save fuel

According to experts, it is used from 15 to 30% of the time when the device is working. The rest of the time it produces less power.

Thus, modulating or at least two-stage burners are more economical. They significantly increase the service life of the heater, which is explained by a decrease in the number of switching off / on the device.

The ability to operate at reduced power provides significant energy savings. In addition, the amount of flue gases and other combustion products emitted into the air is also reduced. Boilers with modulating and two-stage burners are suitable for use with boilers of various capacities.

Use of flue gases

Traditional boilers are convection-type appliances and are designed so that flue gases, together with water vapor, are immediately discharged to the outside. However, their temperature is high and this heat can be reused.

Condensing units collect the steam released during the combustion of gaseous fuel, after which the heat is redirected to the heating circuits. Due to the more complete use of the energy obtained during the processing of gas, the productivity of both the boiler itself and the heating circuit as a whole increases significantly.

The condensing boiler is able to use part of the heat from flue gases, which significantly increases its efficiency and reduces fuel consumption.

Thus, it is possible to achieve significant fuel savings and increase the efficiency of the boiler to fantastic 100% -114%. The disadvantages of condensing boilers usually include a more complex design, which significantly increases the cost. Convection appliances are simpler in execution and much cheaper.

Choosing a floor boiler: how not to make a mistake

Before you go to the store, you should carefully analyze the features of the heated object in order to clearly understand the operating conditions of the device. Based on this, the characteristics of the equipment are selected.

Gas unit power

One of the main factors determining the choice of the boiler. Standard recommendations suggest determining the required power of the device from the following ratio: 1 kW of power produced by the unit is required per 10 sq.m of the building.

However, this is a very average figure. It does not take into account the heat loss of the building, the height of the ceilings in the room, the number of doors and windows, their thermal insulation, and much more. If possible, a specialist should produce.

One more moment. It is usually recommended to select a boiler with some power reserve. This is fair, but this margin should not be large. Otherwise, this will lead to rapid wear of equipment and constant excessive consumption of fuel. For single-circuit boilers, the power reserve should not exceed 15%, for double-circuit boilers 25%.

Specificity of fuel consumption

If possible, it is desirable to choose the most economical boilers. These include all condensation models. Compared to traditional appliances under similar conditions, they consume 15-30% less fuel. The electronic ignition system will also help save money.

Standard piezo ignition requires constant operation of the pilot burner, which leads to excessive gas consumption. This is not required for an electronic system. Such boilers have a high cost, but in the process of operation, investments quickly pay off.

Double-circuit boilers are very convenient for small buildings, as they allow you to simultaneously heat the house and provide it with hot water.

Optimal number of circuits

It makes sense to think about purchasing a double-circuit boiler only if there is a need for hot water supply. In this case, it is worth installing a device with two circuits only in a building of a small or medium area.

For large houses, the installation of double-circuit boilers is impractical, since the power of the device for full-fledged work is most often not enough. In addition, the security of the system suffers.

Priority heat exchanger material

Copper is not considered in this case. Only steel or cast iron. The first option is chosen if you want to save money. But you need to be prepared for the fact that after a few years you will have to change the heat exchanger. For long trouble-free operation of the boiler, a cast iron assembly is chosen.

Construction type and performance

For floor gas boilers, efficiency is considered normal, varying in options from 80 to 98%. Condensation models differ in efficiency ranging from 104 to 116%. The higher this value, the more efficient the boiler is and uses less fuel.

For double-circuit models, the performance of the DHW system can vary from 2.5 to 17 liters per minute. The performance and power of the unit affect its cost, the higher it is, the higher the price of the device.

Best control system

The most convenient and safe to use are boilers with. They are able to function autonomously, without constant control of the owner. These are expensive complex systems.

It is also possible to use more budgetary manually controlled boilers, but in this case, its operation will have to be controlled by turning the device on / off to obtain a comfortable temperature in the room.

An excellent option in the operation of a gas boiler is the presence of a built-in thermostatic sensor. If it is not there, it is recommended to purchase and so as not to waste energy and not overload the heating equipment.

The most convenient to use are floor boilers with automatic control. They do not require constant monitoring, while working safely and efficiently

The rules for conducting gas equipment are given in the article, the contents of which we advise you to read.

Acceptable design and dimensions

Boiler dimensions and appearance are selected based on the area of the furnace room. Manufacturers offer a wide range of different models of various designs and dimensions, which allows you to choose the device that is most suitable for a particular room. It is important to remember that the boiler and additional equipment must be provided with completely free access.

The best models are presented in the article, which details the selection criteria, provides all the arguments on the basis of which you can make a balanced purchase.

Floor boilers are the most practical choice for arranging autonomous heating. If necessary, you can choose a double-circuit model and provide not only heating the house, but also the supply of heated water.

Among the variety of heating devices, it is important to choose the right device that is most suitable for specific operating conditions. You should not save and buy a clearly low-quality, but cheap device. A good boiler will work for a long time and will pay for its cost many times over. With it, your house will always be warm.

Domestic and foreign manufacturers of gas boilers offer a wide range of products, so finding a suitable copy is not a problem. It is more important to know what to focus on in order to understand how to choose a gas boiler for heating and not make a mistake. To do this, you need to understand how the presented options differ from each other.

When choosing a gas boiler for your home, you need to consider a number of nuances related to technical specifications building, the installed heating system, the actual demand for heat and hot water.

Domestic and foreign manufacturers offer a wide range of products. So finding a suitable copy is not a problem. You just need to know what to focus on in order to understand how to choose a gas boiler for heating and not make a mistake. It is also desirable to understand how the presented options differ from each other, and which boiler to choose for a private house.

There are very few external differences between boilers of various modifications.

Features of gas heating

Despite the presence of a large number of alternatives (electricity, diesel, diesel fuel, fuel oil, firewood, coal), it is gas heating that is still the leader in the world. And there are good reasons for this:

Profitability. Compared to other options, gas is relatively cheap and has a high efficiency. At the same time, not only the cost of the fuel itself is taken into account, but also additional costs for its storage (for the consumer), maintenance of the entire system, and so on. Yes, details for rare species boilers can be difficult to get, sometimes you have to overpay. This is also taken into account.

Minimum human involvement. Heating a room with wood or coal requires the mechanical addition of fuel. Here everything is automated, including the flow of gas and control of the flame.

Cleanliness, lack of soot, soot and other things. Boilers can be easily installed in the kitchen.

Possibility of heating large rooms. One powerful boiler can cope with a building on several floors.

At the same time, gas heating has its drawbacks. Or rather specific.

Installation must only be carried out by specialists

In particular, the installation of the boiler requires coordination with Gaztekhnadzor. Installation can only be entrusted to an organization with a license that gives the right to provide such services.

Do not forget that the gas is explosive. Therefore, saving on automation is highly undesirable: it monitors, among other things, its leakage (we are talking about modern technology).

In addition, you need to take care of ventilation. Combustion products can be removed from the building naturally. But if there are problems with traction, you need to change the installation location of the boiler (which is not always possible) or provide it forcibly.

Gas boilers for heating a private house: what are they

There are many types of boilers on the market today. And you need to figure out how one type differs from another for the consumer. So it is easier to understand what to choose - a floor-standing gas boiler for heating a private house, or a mounted one, and with what functions, so as not to be mistaken. After all, otherwise you will either have to endure inconvenience, or spend extra money.

Single and double circuit boilers

One of the main classification methods is the division into single- and double-circuit boilers. The latter heat water not only for the heating system, but also for domestic needs. That is, you do not need to install an additional boiler.

The difference between single and double-circuit boilers

In a word, double-circuit gas boilers for heating a house are designed so that they get cold water from the central water supply system. Then the liquid is heated. In addition, the design has a special valve. It regulates where hot water will be supplied. If you do not wash anything, do not take a bath, the boiler works to provide the heating system. But as soon as the tap opens, the valve closes the device. And water begins to flow to people.

Consider another important point: in order to be able to take a bath, and not a contrast shower, you need a boiler with a capacity of at least 28 kW. The exact figures already depend on the size of the heated premises and the number of consumers. Roughly speaking, the more people need to wash, for example, the higher the load. And the more powerful the heater should be.

Clearly about the difference between single and double-circuit boilers in the video:

Can single-circuit boilers be used to heat domestic water? Yes, many modern models allow it. But you have to buy a boiler. It must be connected to the boiler, and in any case, entrusting the entire process, starting with the selection of a suitable model, is worth a specialist. Most consumers, however, in such situations usually simply take a separate boiler that runs on electricity.

An example of a combination of a heating boiler and an indirect heating boiler

Which option is better? Basically, double-circuit boilers are preferred: they are more convenient. But keep in mind that such models are always more expensive. The choice, in any case, depends on the consumer.

Floor and wall boilers

Boilers can still differ in their location in space: there are heating boilers for a private house, gas floor and wall. The latter take up less space, they are generally more compact. In addition, they can be installed almost anywhere if certain requirements are met. Also, for wall-mounted boilers, it is not necessary to organize a separate chimney: usually everything is solved at the expense of a pipe through which combustion products are removed.

What is the difference between floor gas boilers for heating a house (they are officially called that)? They tend to be more powerful and noticeably heavier. These models require more space: firstly, for a stroke, and secondly, for a chimney. And this is not to mention a set consisting of a single-circuit boiler and a boiler. In addition, such specimens are quite noisy, so they are usually installed in a separate room (boiler room).

Most often, the boiler room is equipped in the basement or basement.

The choice of the optimal solution depends on what exactly you need in a particular case. That is, for an apartment or a small cottage, the best gas boiler for heating is wall-mounted. For big house- outdoor.

But when buying, you need to take into account another factor that can become critical: dependence on electricity. Floor boilers work stably in this regard. Even if there is no electricity in the house, the heat will still remain. True, now more and more models are being produced with automation, which removes this advantage. However, options can be found.

But all floor models depend on voltage: power surges can disable equipment. Of course, no one bothers to put a stabilizer. But, firstly, this is an increase in costs. Secondly, the issue of power outage remains.

In general, both floor and wall products have their own advantages and disadvantages. Therefore, figuring out how to choose a gas boiler for a private house depends on the specific room, on the quality of the electrical network and on financial capabilities.

On our website you can find contacts of companies specializing in heating and water supply country houses. You can directly communicate with representatives by visiting the exhibition of houses "Low-Rise Country".

Boilers with open or closed combustion chamber

Boilers can be with an open or with a closed combustion chamber. The first take air from environment. Therefore, the issue of ventilation in this case becomes critical.

Ventilation is needed even more powerful than for a gas stove

There is a risk that oxygen will eventually be lacking. These models are considered obsolete in the EU, they are widely abandoned there, due to increased safety requirements.

At the same time, boilers with an open combustion chamber are characterized by a simple design. Therefore, they fail less often (if we compare models in a low price category), they are cheaper, installation is easier. Yes, and finding specialists who will deal with them will not be difficult.

Options with a closed combustion chamber are considered more modern. They are safer, but require the installation of a chimney. However, this is just the case when you can spend money on buying an expensive model and installation once, and then not worry that there will not be enough oxygen in the room. Or that someone will suffer from poisoning by combustion products, as happens with problems with boilers of the first type.

But models with a closed camera have their drawbacks. For example, you have to install a ventilation system that needs electricity. Which, firstly, makes such a construction dependent (heat will disappear along with the light), and secondly, it increases the cost of providing a home.

Such a boiler needs supply and exhaust ventilation.

The easiest way is to stop at boilers with a closed combustion chamber with a pipe leading out. But for the installation of this model, there are not always technical possibilities. So it is difficult to say in this situation which boiler to choose for the house. We need information about the facility, whether it is possible to organize a separate room or take the pipe outside.

How to choose a boiler for heating a private house

When choosing a gas boiler, you need to consider not only what they are. There are many more important parameters. Let's take a look at what to pay attention to.

How to choose a gas boiler for a private house by power

It should be noted that it is very important to calculate the appropriate power, that is, no less and no more. With the first, everything is clear: the building simply will not warm up sufficiently. But why is it undesirable for the boiler to be more powerful? In this case, the heating system starts to work unevenly, which leads to excessive wear. The result is frequent repairs and premature replacement of the boiler. In addition, gas consumption increases.

Clearly about the choice of power in the video:

So how do you calculate? In general, it is best to contact experienced professionals with this. The fact is that when calculating, you need to take into account a huge number of different factors:

    number of floors;

    ceiling height;

    the presence or absence of thermal insulation, as well as its type;

    year of construction of the house;

    wall material;

    the selected method of heating water;

    climatic zone.

And that's not all! It also matters whether the boiler is selected for townhouses or for ordinary houses (the former are usually warmer, although there are enough nuances here). The calculation is also affected by the presence of other sources of heating in the building, such as underfloor heating. In addition, an experienced specialist always specifies what the average temperature in the room should be. After all, there is a big difference between + 15 and + 23 degrees Celsius.

You can make an approximate calculation like this: you need to multiply the area of \u200b\u200bthe house by the indicator climate zone, and divide the resulting amount by 10. This option is suitable for typical buildings with ceiling heights up to 3 meters.

Let's say the building is located in the northern regions of Russia. There the climate coefficient is 2 kW. Therefore, the boiler must be 20 kW. But for a double-circuit, this figure must be multiplied by ¼. That is, the result is 25 kW. And remember that he is exemplary!

For the initial assessment of power, you can use the table

Which boiler is better for a private house: the question of the chimney

Boilers with an open combustion chamber, as a rule, do not have a chimney. But in this case, it is necessary to ensure the removal of combustion products. And take into account that some part can still get into the air of the room. Therefore, for the safety of people, it is best to install such boilers in a separate room.

If we are talking about a closed chamber, then forced draft is created there. And since the size and cross section of the chimney do not affect the passage of the air flow (blowing depends on the fan), the installation is carried out by a coaxial pipe. It is easy to install, besides it has a small diameter.

Turbine boilers are another option that is popular. Here the air flow is provided by a special fan. The products of combustion are removed immediately to the street. Moreover, the hole is usually small (it can be seen from the outside).

When choosing this model, you can refuse to organize a chimney. But turbine structures need to be cleaned from time to time: if the entrance is clogged from the street, for example, with leaves, then the boiler will stop working.

Turbine boiler ventilation

Each solution has its own advantages and disadvantages. But remember: only models with natural draft are non-volatile! So if electricity is often cut off in your locality or area, then the only option would be products with natural draft and without a chimney.

Which boiler is better to choose for home heating: manufacturers

There are a lot of options on the market. And there are more and more of them every year. What to do? Try to understand the range.

So, Germany usually offers the most reliable ones. These are Vaillant, Bosch, Buderus, Volf. Italian manufacturers produce copies with an optimal ratio of price, service life and reliability. Of the most famous, it is worth mentioning Ferrolli. Of the less popular ones, Baxi, however, the brand is not particularly well-known in Russia, but in Europe it has long and deservedly enjoyed a good reputation.

South Korean Kiturami will be an ideal option for heating large spaces. If the budget allows, you can pay attention to the Japanese company Rinnai. Her boilers are environmentally friendly, safe and extremely reliable: a guarantee is given for 10 years. In addition, the automation itself regulates the operation of the device depending on the gas pressure.

Additional information for thinking about choosing a gas boiler in the video:

Of the domestic manufacturers, Borinskoye LLC should be noted. The company's boilers are universal, suitable for most heating systems. Manufactured from high strength steels. Many people are also well aware of the Zhukovsky boilers. Produced in the Moscow region, they are attracted by a surprisingly affordable price and simple design.

It is difficult to say which option is better here. Much depends on what exactly you are counting on.

Which gas boiler is better to choose for heating a private house: price

Prices for boilers, in terms of the US dollar, start around $ 250 and reach up to several thousand. Moreover, this amount does not always include delivery, and installation in most cases is paid separately.

In general, a double-circuit boiler is more expensive. But if we compare it not with a single-circuit one, but with a set of a boiler and a boiler, then the calculations are no longer so unambiguous. More money will have to be spent on the option with a chimney. And the most affordable one is a floor single-circuit boiler with natural draft of domestic production.

Single-circuit floor boiler

True, paying less for a product does not mean that the issue of saving has been finally resolved, because if in a few years you have a serious repair or a complete replacement, then the benefit is frankly doubtful. Therefore, it is undesirable to focus solely on the issue of price when buying a boiler.

The gas boiler is the heart of the heating system. It largely depends on whether your house (or apartment) will warm up normally, how much you will have to pay for utilities every month, whether there will be a problem with dampness, etc. Therefore, when buying a gas boiler, there is no need to rush. Moreover, there are many types of gas heating boilers for a private house on the market - for every taste and budget. So, you have the opportunity to choose the really best option. We have considered the main criteria for choosing a boiler for heating a private house, and we hope that you will not have any problems choosing this important equipment.

A gas-fired heating boiler is considered by experts to be the optimal equipment for maintaining the desired temperature in a private house. Properly choosing such a unit is not at all easy, since many of its features and technical characteristics should be taken into account.

Advantages and disadvantages of gas boilers - what you need to know?

Gas-fired heating units are widely used around the world. Such equipment has proven its efficiency and reliability in use. It has the following advantages:

  • Maximum automation of work. In most cases, it is enough for the user to connect the unit, set the required temperature and forget about the need to control the functioning of the boiler until the end of the heating season.
  • High thermal effect from gas combustion. Gas boilers are really high quality and quickly heat up the living quarters.
  • Relative cheapness of fuel. From a financial point of view, gas is significantly more profitable than coal, firewood, electricity.
  • Electrical safety. Many boilers are connected to the mains. But there is a lot of equipment that does not need electrical energy.
  • Easy and infrequent Maintenance. It is enough to inspect gas units once a year (for example, before the start of the heating season). Moreover, this procedure is easy to perform on your own, without involving specialists.
  • Ready to launch at any moment. You just need to turn on the boiler and it will immediately begin to heat the home.
  • Ease of use.

A gas boiler for heating also has some disadvantages. First, care must be taken to ensure that there is no leakage of combustible substance. The appearance of such is fraught with serious problems - explosion and fire. Secondly, gas boilers can be connected to the fuel supply network only after obtaining the appropriate permits. You will have to run around the authorities, collect the required signatures, develop a heating project. Thirdly, some types of equipment are prohibited from being installed in residential premises. For their installation and connection, you need to equip a separate boiler room. Despite all the disadvantages described, gas units remain the best solution for organizing heating systems for a private house.

Types of units - you need to figure it out!

The equipment we are interested in is usually divided into several categories. Types of heating boilers are given below:

  1. 1. Floor and wall.
  2. 2. With closed and open chambers for fuel combustion.
  3. 3. With one and two contours.
  4. 4. Condensing and convection.
  5. 5. Dependent on electricity supply and working without electricity.

Regardless of the type, the units operate on the same principle. They burn gas and heat water (acts as a coolant) to a given temperature.

Floor stands take up a lot of space

Floor gas boilers are unpretentious in operation, have a large margin of reliability. They function without failure for decades, provided that you carry out their maintenance regularly. Such units are installed on the floor, made on the basis of heat exchangers made of alloyed steel or cast iron. Floor equipment is recommended for houses with a large area (from 180-200 square meters), as it is usually characterized by high power. This makes it possible to heat all the premises of a private house with high quality.

Heat exchangers made of steel alloys are prone to rusting. Therefore, special measures should be taken in advance to protect them from corrosion. It is even easier to purchase a unit whose heat exchangers are made of high-alloy or low-carbon alloys. Such steels practically do not rust and are not afraid of mechanical influences.

Wall-mounted ones take up little space, but are usually weaker in power than outdoor ones.

The disadvantage of outdoor equipment is massiveness. The boiler will take up a lot of space in the house. If the area of \u200b\u200bthe dwelling is modest, it is recommended to opt for wall-mounted units. Such heating boilers are more compact and lighter. They are mounted on the wall, occupy a minimum of space and at the same time do an excellent job with their direct task. In terms of power, wall modifications are, as a rule, noticeably weaker than floor installations. But this is not critical if they are mounted in private houses with an area of up to 100-150 square meters. m. If desired, by the way, you can find wall-mounted units with a power of up to 20 kW. Also, wall-mounted boilers have a shorter service life than floor-mounted ones. This is due to some features of their design (in particular, the lack of reliable steel and cast iron heat exchangers).

How many circuits should be in a gas boiler?

If the unit is purchased exclusively for home heating, you can get by with single-circuit equipment. It has an elementary device - one heat exchanger made of copper, steel or cast iron, and gas-burner. Gas boilers with one circuit are floor and wall. Regardless of the type, they are not capable of preparing hot water. Therefore, now such units are used in private homes less and less.

A gas boiler with two circuits is, in fact, two devices at once - the unit itself for maintaining a certain temperature and a flow-through water heater (DHW). The design of such equipment is quite complex. It provides for the presence of special heat exchangers, special three-way valves, a module and an electronic control panel. At the same time, they are even easier to operate and install than single-circuit equipment, which cannot heat water for domestic needs.

Heat exchangers for double-circuit boilers are bithermic and dual. The first ones are made in the form of two metal tubes of different cross-section, pushed into each other. External pipes heat water for heating, internal - for hot water. Dual exchangers are made of two blocks - plate and primary. These modules are installed in the upper and lower parts of the gas unit and are connected to each other. Therefore, they are considered as a single node. The plate heat exchanger is made of special plates (it heats water for household needs). The primary is a tube with fins that provides heating for the home.

Advice. For a private house, as well as for an apartment with individual heating, it is better to choose a two-circuit unit with a dual-type heat exchanger. In it, hot water moves through a closed system. So, the likelihood of scale in the pipes will be minimal. In addition, dual heat exchangers are easier and cheaper to repair. If necessary, only one circuit can be replaced. There is no such possibility in bithermic installations. In the event of a breakdown, you have to spend money on replacing the entire device, which is not economically viable.

It is advisable to buy a water boiler with copper heat exchangers. This material is characterized by unique durability and a very high heat transfer rate. Equipment with copper exchangers is not cheap. But it fully pays off in operation (no breakdowns due to poor water quality, saving on gas consumption). Galvanized steel products are cheap. But the durability of such heat exchangers is minimal. Contours made of stainless steel are operated without breakdowns for a long time. At the same time, units with them have a low efficiency, which is due to the low heat transfer of stainless steel structures.

Double-circuit individual heating, as we see, is more profitable and convenient. It is also important that boilers with two heat exchangers are very compact. They are mounted on the wall, take up little space. The cost of this equipment is high. But when it is installed, there is no need to purchase a separate water heater. And this is a direct saving of money.

What else do you need to know about the types of heating equipment?

Gas boilers for heating can operate according to a convection or condensation scheme. In the first case, the burner of the unit creates thermal energy, which is sent to the heat exchanger. Part of the heat goes into the heating system. Unused calories are released into the atmosphere. Heat loss in this scheme is 7–10%. Condensing plants use almost without exception the heat (up to 97-99%) generated by the burner. When the boilers operate according to this scheme, condensate is formed. It goes into a special drainage system. If you are faced with a choice of which unit to purchase - condensing or convection, feel free to buy the first of these.

  • open;
  • closed.

Boilers with open chambers (they are usually called atmospheric) produce little noise during operation, are characterized by a simple design. They are often made independent of electricity. Air is taken by such devices directly from the room where the equipment is installed, and then flows by gravity to the burners. The combustion products at the same time leave due to natural draft through a standard home chimney.

Installations with closed chambers (turbocharged) take air from the street. To do this, you need to equip a separate two-layer chimney. Through it, the products of gas combustion are also removed. The chimney can be mounted in any room of a private house. This is convenient - there is no binding to a conventional smoke exhaust pipe. But remember that boilers with closed chambers are more expensive, noisy and structurally complex. Last fact causes their reduced operational reliability. Another disadvantage of turbocharged systems is high electricity consumption. Such boilers, as a rule, are chosen for large private houses in cases where savings are not of decisive importance.

Additional options for heating installations - what to look for?

General requirements for home heating equipment - reliability, efficiency, ease of operation. Modern gas boilers fully meet such requests. At the same time, manufacturers strive to make their units even more comfortable and profitable for consumers. Now many boilers are equipped with additional devices that expand the functionality and safety of home heating installations.

It is advisable to choose units that are initially equipped with all the required piping.

It is understood as specialized safety devices, circulation pumps, expansion tanks and other mechanisms. The piping is mounted on all boilers. Therefore, it will not be possible to save on it. From this point of view, it is most profitable to buy double-circuit heating devices. They all have the necessary piping integrated into the boiler design. If the above devices are mounted separately, you will have to allocate additional space for it in the room. This is not always convenient. But the external strapping has a clear plus. It is easier to maintain and repair in case of breakdown (no need to dismantle the boiler).

Gas heating installations are equipped with a variety of automatic systems. They can function on the basis of mechanical or electronic control. What is the best automation? Undoubtedly electronic. The consumer once sets the parameters of the boiler and no longer approaches it. Mechanical automation requires constant monitoring by the user. True, the cost of equipment with electronic components is quite high. You have to pay for convenience!

Floor-standing single-circuit installations for heating private houses are in most cases controlled using standard panels. They usually have several buttons (regulators) that allow you to set the temperature, start or turn off the boiler. More modern dual-circuit devices are often equipped with external control modules (complex ones - you can work with them via the Internet, via a GSM channel and simple ones -). Such blocks make it possible to use the extended functionality of heating installations.

How to choose a gas boiler by power?

If you decide to do it yourself, you should draw up a detailed plan for such an event, consider the layout of pipes, chimneys and additional equipment. The work is going to be serious. And its success will largely depend on the correct selection of the heating boiler in terms of power. There are no special difficulties here. You need to remember the following.

If you live in an area with a temperate continental climate, you need to spend about one kilowatt of thermal energy to heat every 10 square meters of a private house, in warm regions - 0.8 kW. But for areas with lower average annual temperature(Far East, northern Russia), per 10 sq. m. area is spent up to 1.5 kW of energy. Based on this, the power of the unit should be selected. A simple example. Your home is located in the European part of the Russian Federation. Its area is 100 squares. How to choose a boiler for heating a private house with such dimensions? Elementary. Multiply 100 by 0.1, you get the required power of the heating installation - 10 kW.

Important! About 15–20% more must be added to the calculated power. This surplus will keep you warm during particularly cold winters and in cases where heat loss occurs during boiler operation.

Below we provide a plate that will facilitate the calculation of the required power of the gas unit.

Let your house always be warm!

Among all types of boilers, gas units are perhaps the most popular and reliable. And this is not surprising, because our country has vast gas reserves, and this type of fuel is widely distributed even in remote settlements. However, even these seemingly well-known devices have a large number of differences, functions, installation methods and operating modes. As part of this review, we will try to disassemble gas boilers for heating a private house. How to choose the best option and prioritize for ordinary users? Let's find out.

Variety of boiler equipment

Advantageous features of high-quality gas boilers:

  1. The equipment provides a built-in automatic mode, which allows you to monitor the gas pressure.
  2. In the event of a malfunction, the sensor sends a signal about this to the electric ignition system, after which the device continues to function normally.
  3. The efficiency is very high, and the price of fuel is low. At the same time, the heater gives off a lot of energy, but at the same time consumes much less.
  4. With the help of a gas boiler, you can heat quite large rooms or entire objects.

How to choose gas boilers for heating a private house according to functional features

From right choice equipment, first of all, the durability of the boiler and its efficiency will depend.

There are several main criteria for choosing when buying:

  1. Material.
  2. Gas consumption.
  3. Availability of automatic mode.
  4. Price policy.

Before buying equipment, it is imperative to calculate the required power for heating your particular home (below is a handy illustrated calculator). Here is an example of a simplified calculation for a small house:

  1. If the room has 100 m², you will need a boiler at the rate of 1 kW / 10m².
  2. The power indicator of the gas boiler should be 10 kW.

This is a very simplified example that does not take into account the individual characteristics of each building. But in general, the order of numbers is like this.

Types of heating boilers for a private house: design features, pros and cons

Since ancient times, the hearth in the house was considered a sacred place, the life of the whole family was built around it. He gave light, food was cooked here, conversations were held, and, of course, the hearth warmed a simple dwelling with warmth, turning it into a cozy home.

Over the past millennia, ancient fireplaces and medieval fireplaces have turned into modern heating boilers - high-tech devices with a variety of capabilities. Their main function remained unchanged - to fill our homes with warmth and comfort.

Heating boilers by type of fuel

Have you finally decided to fulfill your old dream and build a brand new cottage on the shore of a picturesque lake? Or are you going to reconstruct your parents' house a few kilometers from the city? In any case, practically the first thing to think about is how the dwelling will be heated.

Today's choice of heating boilers for a private house is designed for a variety of technical and financial capabilities, as well as personal preferences of the owners. First of all, you need to know what boilers are for heating. And here the type of fuel plays a key role.

gas boilers

Buying a gas boiler is the most popular solution to the heating problem, since today network gasification has reached even remote settlements in Russian regions.

Statistics
According to PJSC Gazprom, in 2016 the average level of gasification in Russia exceeded 66.5%. The highest level of gasification was achieved in the Belgorod Region and the Stavropol Territory (up to 99%). The Moscow region is gasified by 97.4%. The least gasified regions of Siberia and Far East. The Amur region is not completely provided with network natural gas.

If a gas main passes near the house, you should pay attention to this type of equipment, and then choose the device according to the parameters that suit you.

There are a huge number of models of gas heating boilers for a private house. In order not to get confused in the variety of equipment, first decide for what purpose you are installing the equipment: only heating or heating and hot water supply. In the first case, a single-circuit device will suffice: they have an attractive price and low fuel consumption. A gas boiler with two circuits is suitable for those who solve a double task. Such equipment can heat water in a flow way or have a built-in boiler with a volume of 150 liters to 180 liters. To wash dishes or take a shower in the country, flowing heating is enough.

If you have made your choice in favor of a double-circuit apparatus, it's time to decide on the number of heat exchangers. In equipment with a bithermic (single) heat exchanger, hot water is heated together with heating water. The advantages of such boilers - low price, small dimensions and weight. True, due to the complexity of the design in case of leakage, the bithermic heat exchanger is practically beyond repair. In a boiler with two heat exchangers: the primary one is designed for heating, and the secondary one is for heating domestic water. In the event of a breakdown of the second heat exchanger for heating, it will remain operational.

Now you need to choose the material of the heat exchanger: cast iron or steel. The cast iron heat exchanger is less prone to corrosion and retains heat longer. To disadvantages this material include heavy weight, fragility, sensitivity to temperature changes and overheating. Steel equipment is less whimsical in operation and installation.

by the way
With proper maintenance, cast iron equipment will last you 30-45 years. Gas heating boiler with a steel heat exchanger - 15–25 years.

One of the main characteristics of gas boilers is the presence of an open or closed combustion chamber. Equipment is a classic open type with natural traction. It draws air directly from the room in which it is installed. According to safety requirements, this type of equipment must be equipped with a vertical chimney to remove carbon monoxide. Before buying such a boiler, take care of a special room (boiler room) with good ventilation.

More expensive equipment closed type does not require the arrangement of the boiler room, it can be installed anywhere in your home. In addition, when operating this equipment, a vertical chimney is not necessary at all, smoke removal is possible through a horizontal coaxial pipe. If a sudden power outage is a frequent occurrence, it is better to choose a device with natural draft, since the supply of oxygen and the removal of combustion products in closed-type boilers is carried out using a powerful fan or cooler, and their operation depends on the energy supply.

The type of ignition at first glance seems to be an insignificant factor, but it is also worth paying attention to. Electric ignition is economical because the wick burns intermittently, but in this case, the operation of the boiler also depends on the availability of electricity. Having bought a boiler with piezo ignition, you will have to turn it on manually, but the boiler will be completely independent of a stable power supply.

V Lately condensing gas boilers are gaining popularity. They differ from traditional convection-type boilers in the presence of a water economizer, which allows you to increase productivity and reduce fuel consumption, but you will have to pay about 1.5–2 times more for it.

Electric boilers

What if the house is located where the benefits of gas service are not available? Do not despair, there is an alternative to gas heating boilers - their electric "brothers". They have a number of undeniable advantages: low price, small size, noiselessness, unpretentiousness and safety in operation, environmental friendliness.

There are three types of electric boilers for heating a private house: heating elements(tubular electric heaters), electrode and induction. Modern boilers on heating elements are easy to use and aesthetic. All elements and devices are assembled in a single housing and covered with a casing. They can be installed on any wall of the room without spoiling the interior. It is easy to choose a model to your taste: the required power and level of automation. An indisputable advantage for owners of an electric boiler on heating elements will be a large selection of types of coolant circulating through the boiler. The disadvantage of this equipment is the inertia of heating and scale formed on the heating elements, however, the heater is easy to change in case of equipment failure.

Perhaps universal in size are electrode boilers. If you plan to use one or two radiators, a “baby” that fits in your hand will do. But there are also powerful installations designed to heat a large house. Also, the advantages of this option: high performance, fast heating of water and accuracy of temperature settings. But for all its merits, this type of equipment is too "finicky" to the composition of the coolant.

The most expensive electronic boilers are induction. They are practically not subject to scale formation, they have efficient system protection against overheating, there are no restrictions in the choice of coolant. They are characterized by a high rate of heating of the coolant, and the efficiency of devices of this type tends to 100%.

Diesel boilers

An alternative to electric heating boilers is liquid fuel (diesel). If this option for heating the house is chosen, you need to be prepared for the fact that you will need a separate boiler room with good ventilation or exhaust, as well as a room equipped in accordance with fire safety standards, where fuel will be stored in special containers. But the liquid fuel equipment itself is easy to operate and has a high level of automation with good power and performance.

Solid fuel boilers

If the price of fuel is a determining factor, you should pay attention to solid fuel boilers that run on such cost-effective fuels as firewood, sawdust, briquettes, coal and coke. Three main advantages of this equipment: environmental friendliness, safety, availability of fuel. There are several types of solid fuel boilers for home heating - classic and pyrolysis. The principle of operation of classic boilers is very simple, they work as a result of direct combustion of fuel, and in pyrolysis fuel with high temperatures emits combustible gas, which is then burned in the combustion chamber. Any solid fuel heating boiler requires a chimney with good draft and periodic cleaning of the combustion chamber from the accumulation of ash, tar and tar. It is also necessary to remember about the large dimensions of the fuel (especially when it comes to firewood), which needs to be allocated storage space.

The disadvantage of classic solid fuel boilers is obvious: loading fuel every 5-6 hours. In gas-generating boilers, fuel burns out almost completely, so loading occurs much less frequently - once every 12–14 hours. Such equipment is called long-burning boilers. True, one cannot speak of the complete autonomy of these boilers, since often their performance depends on the availability of electricity.

Pellet boilers

The most technologically advanced in the category of solid fuel equipment are pellet heating boilers that use biofuel in the form of granules (pellets) from wood waste. Such boilers can operate autonomously for a long time, since they have an automatic fuel supply system and wide possibilities for adjusting the temperature. It is enough to load fuel into the hopper every few days and remove the ash about once a month. And the installation of an external hopper will increase the battery life of the boiler. More expensive models are equipped with a remote control. At the same time, the efficiency of such equipment varies between 86% and 93%, depending on the model and quality of the granules.

The service life of pellet boilers is impressive: this solid and reliable design in a sealed housing will last about 20 years.

But, like any, perhaps, boiler equipment, pellet boilers have their drawbacks in operation. First of all - the high price. Also, for fuel storage, it will be necessary to equip a separate dry room so that the pellets do not swell from moisture. And the last thing: it is impossible to talk about the complete autonomy of this equipment, since the operation of its systems and the fan depends on the power supply.

Combined boilers

There are also combined models of boilers in which two and three types of fuel can be used, and universal ones that work on any fuel. They allow the owner of the house to choose the fuel that is available in this moment. Therefore, an unstable supply of electricity and network gas will not cause cold radiators. Combined boilers run on fuel:

  • solid fuel/gas;
  • solid fuel/electricity;
  • gas/electricity;
  • gas/diesel fuel.

Popular among such units are gas and electricity boilers. At the same time, it should be borne in mind that this equipment has one type of fuel - the main one, and the second - auxiliary, with which you can only maintain a comfortable temperature.

Universal devices operate on three or even four types of fuel. Interruptions with heating in a private house where such equipment is installed are practically reduced to zero. But universal boilers are larger, lower efficiency than single-fuel boilers, and complex installation, configuration and maintenance.

Heating boilers by installation type

According to the type of installation, two types of heating boilers are distinguished: wall and floor. Outdoor equipment is most often installed in a separate room and has an impressive size. Wall mounted boilers more compact. The wall-mounted boiler can be installed in the kitchen, hallway or utility room. Some types of heating boilers have only one type of execution. So, solid fuel and diesel equipment is only outdoor.

How to choose a boiler for heating a private house

What is the economic benefit of heating?

  • cost and installation of equipment;
  • fuel cost;
  • operating cost;
  • connection cost.

The cheapest cost is an electric boiler, designed to heat a small room. In addition, it is easy to install, and you can install it yourself. The only problem - serious expenses for electricity. This problem will be partially solved by high-quality thermal insulation of the room and an energy-saving heating boiler made of modern technological materials.

Classic solid fuel and gas equipment can also be bought at a relatively low price. But the installation of a gas boiler must be carried out by specialists, which will require additional costs. The most expensive will be the purchase of a pellet boiler, which will cost you at least 50,000 rubles.

When choosing a boiler, you need to look not only at the initial cost of the equipment, but also at the price of fuel (see table).

Table. Approximate heating costs depending on the type of fuel for the boiler

Type of fuel for the boiler Approximate cost of heating 100 sq. m per month, rub.
Gas 1 300
Granular solid fuel 4 500
Coal 4 700
Firewood 5 200
Diesel 9 500
Electricity 10 500

Of course, these figures are arbitrary and show only the general picture. Real costs will be affected by the power of the equipment, the thermal insulation of the room, climatic conditions in your area, as well as the cost and availability of a particular type of fuel in the area where you live. If your dream home is located in a secluded place in the middle of a thicket, there will be no problem with the supply of firewood.

The more automated the equipment, the more expensive it is, the less intervention is required on your part. If it is not possible to control the operation of the boiler and regularly send the latter to maintenance activities, you will have to abandon the option with a classic solid fuel boiler. But the equipment on gas and electricity will please in this regard.

Although it is possible to connect a lot of boiler equipment on your own, it is better to entrust this task to a professional, especially since in some cases installation also involves connecting to external networks. It is possible to heat a country house with a low-power electric boiler without agreement with the electricity supplier. You will also not need additional permits if diesel and solid fuel equipment is selected. With ease of operation, low-cost maintenance and economic benefits of a gas boiler, a long process of connecting it can spoil the rosy picture even before the start of operation. Documentation and verification by various services sometimes drag on for months and cost a pretty penny.

When planning work on organizing a heating system in a house, decide whether the boiler will be used for hot water supply. If yes, a suitable option is a double-circuit boiler: gas, electric, diesel, etc. The second question is whether the gas main runs nearby. To date, gas remains the most economical type of fuel in Russia, therefore, if it is possible to connect to the gas supply network, it is better to choose gas equipment. If the area of \u200b\u200bthe house is small, it is worth stopping at wall-mounted gas or electric boilers. The lucky ones who have the opportunity to equip a separate boiler room have a great choice, they can use equipment that runs on almost any type of fuel.

Where can I buy a heating boiler?

We asked a representative of Teplomatika Engineering Center to comment on this issue:

“You can buy a heating boiler for a private house in a specialized center for the sale of goods for heating and water supply. In search of the equipment you need, you can go to a nearby similar store. The advantage of offline points is that there you can evaluate the appearance of your future equipment (dimensions, device) and personally consult with the seller. If the selected boiler is small and in stock, you can immediately pick it up. The disadvantages of this type of shopping include a limited selection of products in the store area.

Now showrooms of premium equipment, including heating equipment, are popular among buyers. In the showrooms of the showrooms, popular models of the most technologically advanced and advanced boiler equipment, water heaters and radiators were demonstrated. For example, our company "Engineering Center Teplomatika" presents a showroom for heating equipment of the German brand Buderus. The showroom gives the company's customers the opportunity to visually get acquainted with the products, and the company's managers to show in practice all the advantages of the heating equipment sold. An accurate understanding of the client's tasks allows us to offer an expanded range of related equipment: chimneys, pumps, expansion tanks. If you have any questions, our professional staff is ready to answer.”

Pellet boilers are considered to be the most technologically advanced in the category of solid fuel equipment. Typically, such devices can operate autonomously for a long time, since they have an automatic fuel supply system and wide temperature control options.

Editorial opinion

The heat exchanger of double-circuit gas boilers is sensitive to an increased salt content in the coolant, so it is worth cleaning it regularly. Also, do not forget to call a specialist before starting the equipment at the beginning of the heating season - a gas service employee will assess the safety of the boiler.
