Theories and guesses around the world of “Melancholy. Haruhi Suzumiya Conspiracies Variations and Additions

Want to discuss or complement theories? You can leave comments.

Theory 1. Classical boring.

Motto: Everything is as it seems.

Haruhi Suzumiya is a god, or has divine powers. Asahina-san, Nagato, and Koizumi were indeed created three years ago to allay Haruhin's boredom. Kyung got in here by accident because Haruhi fell in love with him.

The theory is called classical because in one way or another all the characters in the books about Melancholy converge on it.

Despite the fact that the theory explains a lot, and, in fact, is the basis for all the reasoning of the heroes of "Melancholy" and subsequent books, it is full of white spaces. One of them is the so-called " unhappy Haruhi's paradox"- the supposedly omnipotent Haruhi suffers the most in the" Brigade ", because she does not have any adventures at all, she does not find aliens and others, and all her otherworldly undertakings fail.

Variations:

  1. Haruhi is not a god, but a real god is trying to entertain her. No practical difference until this god somehow manifests itself. But this theory is supported by the message to heaven left by Haruhi three years ago. After all, it was three years ago that everything started - at least as far as we know.
  2. Kyon did not get in the way, but was created by Haruhi herself - so that she had someone to fall in love with. There is no practical difference, at least for Kyon.
  3. Haruhi is truly happy as long as she is looking for aliens, but she will immediately get bored when she finds them. Therefore, the subconscious (or external god) does not allow her to find anyone. Possible explanation for the "unfortunate Haruhi paradox".

Theory 1.2. Classic zen

Motto: Through hardship to the stars

Having received the prayer for the existence of the supernormal three years ago, the deity (whatever it really is) directly created the extranormal, and in such a way as to please Haruhi without destroying everything else.

Haruhi, however, was unable to find the one she was looking for, even though it was within reach. However, Haruhi suffers from a rare selective blindness based on the belief that everything that could be observed specifically in school she has already observed. The deity needs from her to be comprehended by Zen enlightenment.

However, when Nagato, with the help of someone's ability changes the world, and Kyung gets the opportunity to give up adventure, he has to tell himself the truth to some extent, confessing that he likes adventure.

Also, the series of dialogues going on in Kyon's head may seem curious. For example, in the same fourth volume, Kyung holds a conversation with himself, with one half of Kyung interrogating him, asking him if he likes the adventure, and the other diligently unlocking it.

An argument in favor of this theory is the prologue to "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya", where Kyung talks about how from childhood he always dreamed of adventure, but in such a way as to be on the sidelines. Subsequently, this is what happens.

Another argument is that Kyung is the only one of the entire "SOS Brigade" is in full and unconditional positive: he gets long-awaited adventures, the most beautiful girl in school, the smartest girl in school, the most reckless girl in school and a good friend. He has no time to be bored.

On the other hand, Haruhi, who is a god according to the classical theory, on the contrary, constantly misses, yearns, all her undertakings are thwarted, and she can never meet anything paranormal. This paradox is called "the paradox of unhappy Haruhi", and it is described in detail along with the classical theory.

Variations:

  1. Kyung is not a god, but a real god helps him. No practical difference until this god begins to act on his own.
  2. Kyon did not create Haruhi. He fell in love with her, and created all these adventures for her. See romantic theory. But then it is not clear why Haruhi did not get anything from these adventures. Possible explanation - Kyung believed that Haruhi would be better this way, compared to classical theories.
  3. Kyung is just one of many gods on earth.
  4. An alternative to the "subconscious" hypothesis: Kyung prepared adventures (in the person of Haruhi, endowing her with divine powers), and then erased his memory. This theory is supported, for example, by hints in the seventh volume, where Kyung repeatedly discusses how fragile memory is. Quite possibly, Kyung thinks, I've already experienced moments that I later forgot.
  5. Kyung and Haruhi are part of the same whole. See the theory of divine dualism.

Theory 3.1. Kenocentric fix.

Motto: Who is the last king here?

Kyung is indeed a god, and not only that: the rest of the SOS Brigade is actually not hunting for Haruhi, but for him. Haruhi did not give up to them for nothing.

Kyung himself is unaware. Koizumi gently and carefully tries to lead him to the right thoughts, but Kyung always gets out, stubbornly considering Koizumi's reasoning not worthy of attention. In fact, it is his subconscious that protects him, preventing him from understanding the truth.

This theory is supported, in particular, by some of Koizumi's remarks, as well as scenes from the second volume.

In the second volume, Haruhi makes a film, the storyline of which is in many ways similar to reality. So, Yuki plays in it an evil alien magician, Mikuru is a shy guest from the future, and Itsuki is the guy for whom Yuki and Mikuru are fighting.

The script for the film looks very, very suspicious. For example, one day Yuki says to Mikuru, referring to the hero Koizumi:
You must disappear from this plane of time. He's ours. He is of great value to us. Although he has not yet realized his powers, they are truly enormous. We'll need his help to invade Earth.

In the story from the sixth volume, describing the finished film, you can read another curious remark from Koizumi:
Yes? It turns out, no matter what choice he makes ... Wait, in the film it's not "he", but "me".

We can assume that we are talking about Ken. It is he who plays in Koizumi's film, which is why he starts talking, confusing "him" and "himself."

Then Kyung's dialogue with himself in Volume 4 is explained: in fact, Kyung was talking to Haruhi, the other half of his mind. To some extent, it is clear why Kyung was so panicked not to find Haruhi in the world: after all, she is a part of himself. But it is not entirely clear how they communicate with each other: why at the beginning of the book Kyung could not find Haruhi, and at the end - communicated with his other half without any problems?

Maybe it's because Kyung was in the past at the time, where Haruhi hadn't yet been affected by the changes.

Variations:

  1. God was defeated, not powerless of his own free will. See The Titan Downfall Hypothesis.
  2. The original god was Haruhi / the original god was Kyon, and the other half she / he created in addition to themselves. There is no practical difference, but you can look at the "classical" or "kenocentric" theory, respectively..

Theory 3.3. Downcast titans hypothesis

Motto: Ah, the Decembrists! .. Don't wake Herzen! ..

God lost his strength not of his own free will. He was defeated by the enemy and divided into parts so as not to pose a threat - since it is impossible to kill a god.
In this case, it is understandable why life spun around Haruhi only at the moment when she became friends with Kyon: why, there was a danger that God would be restored! Until then, Koizumi's "Organization", the people from the future who sent Mikuru, and Nagato's infobrain were just passively watching Haruhi - and possibly Kyon.

Who was the side that defeated God? It could be anyone, including any of the three organizations, and in particular a united thought entity, and maybe all three together. Perhaps the god was destroyed by someone else, much more powerful, and the three current organizations are simply interested in maintaining the status quo.

This theory is particularly good at explaining why all three organizations are so afraid of Haruchin's wrath. After all, if the world is destroyed and recreated anew, this will not only mark the restoration of divine powers, but will also be a death sentence for those who held God in chains. Strictly contrary to what stakeholders have argued, the new world will surely have no aliens, time travelers, or psychics. It will be a completely normal world - just the kind that Kyung has always dreamed of.

Variations and additions

  1. Koizumi / Mikuru / Nagato are actually not at all what they seem. For more on this, see the "evil SOS Brigade" theory.

Theory 4. Tsuruistic.

Motto: I don't mind just looking from the outside.

Tsuruya-san is a god who is very bored. She gives Haruhi Suzumiya, Asahina-san, Nagato and Koizumi super powers, and adds to all this Kyon for his healthy cynicism. Then she sits down in front of an imaginary TV and pulls out a popcorn.

In the seventh volume, "The Conspiracies of Haruhi Suzumiya," it is revealed that Tsuruya-san is well aware of almost everything that is happening around Haruhi Suzmiya - including, probably, about the ins and outs of Asahina, Nagato and Koizumi. However, this does not bother her at all. She claims that she is fine without other people's secrets. She doesn't mind just watching quietly from the side.

Koizumi reveals that Tsurui-san's family maintains close ties with his "Organization".

Variations:

  1. Tsuruya-san created Haruhi and the others from scratch. There is no practical difference.
  2. Tsuruya-san did this to entertain her friend Mikuru. But, in the end, she only frightened me to death.
  3. Tsuruya-san is quietly in love with Kyon, and she did it for him to keep him from getting bored. And then as in the theory of kenocentrism.
  4. Tsuruya-san is not the only god. See polytheistic theory.

Theory 5. Polytheistic.

Motto: We gods.

There are many people on earth or in the universe who have divine powers. Some of them are still unknown, while others have already been found in books.

Where these divine abilities came from is unknown. Perhaps they were provided by some more powerful deity (compare with classic zen theory: perhaps this is a certain school of life for people who have received superpowers). Or maybe people with divine abilities are themselves the embodiment of the gods.

Variations:

  1. Haruhi is still a goddess, though she is not alone. Compare with classical theories.
  2. Kyon and Tsuruya received divine abilities, and Haruhi was just Kyon's ward. Compare with kenocentric and tsuruistic theories.

Theory 6.1. Giveaway game.

Motto: I know what you did last summer.

Haruhi realizes that she is surrounded by aliens, time travelers and psychics. After all, how can you not understand this, being with them around the clock! It's just that Haruhi likes to have fun watching the whole carousel spin around her. Including how Kyung is suffering, trying to hide the obvious from her.

Theory 6.2. Conspiracy.

Motto: All these lies.

Once, Asahina-san, Koizumi and Nagato met by chance on the street, drank a cup of coffee, and confessed to each other that they were an alien, a time traveler and a psychic. And then a good joke occurred to them.
They told Kyon that Haruhi was a goddess and should be kept in check. To Haruhi they said the same about Kyon. After that, all three began to have fun, who is in what is great: creating closed spaces with avatars, scaring Kyon with Asakura with knives and rolling back and forth from the future to the past.

Variations:

  1. They didn't say anything to Haruhi. Haruhi is with them herself. Compare with theory six.

Theory 6.3. Evil SOS Brigade.

Motto: My second self.

The members of the SOS Brigade are not at all who they claim to be. They only play their roles, adjusting to Kyon's tastes.

For example, Nagato practically takes him for the master, following all his instructions and waiting for his confirmation in everything. On his advice, she gave up wearing glasses, only he opened the door in the story "Lonely Island Syndrome." The only time she turned him down was a story from Volume 8, Shadow Wandering. On the other hand, she carries out Haruhi's orders with obvious disdain as part of her inevitable duties. One of the possible reasons for this is "Nagato + Kyung = love"(see the corresponding addition), the other - she tries to please him in everything, because she wants to win his favor.

We can see from the books that Kyung likes to think of Nagato as an emotionless girl, little by little beginning to acquire them. He loves to protect Nagato and admire how his feelings barely manifest in her. This is confirmed by the words of Kyung in the fourth volume, in the story "In Love at First Sight" from the sixth volume, and in other books.

But Nagato may well deliberately act the way Kyung likes it.

When Nagato creates his "ideal world" in the fourth volume, Asakura is resurrected in it. This suggests that Nagato is kind to Asakura. However, when Kyon comes to visit Nagato, Nagato from the altered world is afraid of Asakura and asks Kyon not to leave her alone with her. Why, then, would Nagato restore Asakura to this world if she is afraid of her? Or is it just another play for Kyung?

Another possible motivation for Nagato to create the world is to please Kyon. But in this case, it is all the more incomprehensible why it was necessary to resurrect the girl, whom Kyon is afraid of until his teeth tremble.

We see that the behavior of the cold-blooded and calculating alien is illogical and does not fit well with its possible motives.

Same with Mikuru: Koizumi mentioned that Mikuru's appearance and demeanor may well be tailored by people from the future so that Kyon would like her. It makes sense: why else send such a clumsy and helpless girl into the past?

Yes, and Koizumi himself has repeatedly said that he cares about Kyon's opinion, and winning Kyon's favor would be a great success for him. Thus, Koizumi is arguably the most honest of the three paranormal participants - although he appears to be a trickster at first glance.

Variations

  1. Koizumi, Mikuru, and Nagato fight over Kyon as he is the real god. See the theory of kenocentrism
  2. Haruhi and Kyon are just parts of the same god, separated and devoid of power. The SOS Brigade is trying to prevent their reunification. See the Downed Titan Hypothesis
  3. Nagato tries to win Kyung's favor not for the sake of malice, but out of the kindness of his soul. See the addition "Kyung + Nagato = love".

Theory 7. Slider.

Motto: Announce the entire list, please.

Kyung is a slider, a guest from a parallel world. Haruhi Suzumiya wanted to meet with "aliens, time travelers, psychics or sliders"... The alien, psychic and time traveler are Nagato, Koizumi and Mikuru. It is logical to assume that the remaining, fourth member of the SOS Brigade is the missing link, the slider.

Kyung is unaware of his true self for various reasons. Including:

  1. Kyon was erased from the memory of the fourth organization standing behind him, people from a parallel world. This was part of their plan to investigate Suzumiya Haruhi.
  2. Loss of memory is an inevitable consequence of travel between worlds
  3. Kyung is a random traveler from a parallel world who lost his travel car and deliberately erased his memory so as not to be desperate that he could not return home.

On the other hand, speaking about the events of the fourth volume, Koizumi in the seventh volume states that "there are two different eighteenths of December, one corrupted, one corrected." Thus, Koizumi believes that these two versions of the same day do not exist in turn, but in parallel - thus creating two parallel worlds.

In one of the worlds on December 18, Kyung wakes up as an ordinary schoolboy. In another, Kyung falls down the stairs and bruises his head. Both of these worlds exist, because without one there would be no other.

Thus, the concept of "pseudo-parallel" (corrected in time) worlds turns into the usual concept of parallel worlds. Slider theory becomes possible again.

Trivia and additions

Mikuru is Kyon's sister

One hypothesis is that Mikuru is Kyon's sister. There are not too many reasons to think so. The girls are united by a common awkwardness and affection for Kyon. In addition, Mikuru's age, although it remains a mystery, is roughly the same as possible.

Haruhi Suzumiya

Haruhi Suzumiya- a high school student. Haruhi only cares about unusual personalities like psychics, aliens, people with supernormal abilities. Ordinary schoolchildren are an empty place for her, so Haruhi has not only friends, but also friends. The girl allows the guys to take care of herself, but the longest relationship with the opposite sex lasted only a week. In the guys, Haruhi, apparently, is looking for something unusual, and when he does not find it, he immediately breaks off the relationship without regret.

Suzumiya founds the SOS club in the school, in which he practically enrolls four students by force. The girl expects the club to help her find any secrets, riddles, recognize people from another world or from other planets. When nothing out of the ordinary happens for a long time, Haruhi falls into a real melancholy. Until a new crazy idea, of course, in which she forces all members of the club to participate.

The girl's closest communication was with Kyon, an unremarkable classmate who tolerates her antics only because he indifferently lets what is happening to chance. Haruhi has not only friendly feelings for Kyung, but also something akin to romantic sympathies.

Haruhi Suzumiya's true identity is not known even to herself. According to research by a group of psychics, Haruhi is the creator of the existing world. Reality depends on the mood of the schoolgirl. When she is bored, sad, or when she experiences negative emotions, a closed space is created in the world, inside which Haruhi's emotions are embodied in the form of a giant. The giant destroys the world within space. The stronger and longer the girl's sadness, the more the isolation zone grows, which threatens to disrupt the existing world. With just her desire, Haruhi is able to destroy the reality she created and replace it with a new one. Therefore, it is important to maintain a positive mood in her and prevent her melancholy.

Kyung

Kyung- High school student, classmate of Haruhi Suzumiya. Kyung is the nickname the guy got from his friends. However, over time, all classmates and even relatives begin to call him that.

Kyung is literally chosen by Suzumiya to be her friend and partner in all of her crazy endeavors. By nature, Kyung is a phlegmatic person. He is a kind of contemplator, analyzing what is happening, but does not want to participate in it. It is easier for Kyon to comply with Haruhi's requests, even if they are devoid of logic and meaning, than to contradict her. Kyon's life is measured and slow. He does not oppose the system, like Haruhi, but goes with the flow, while regularly doing what is required of him: attends school, studies satisfactorily, is in school clubs, looks after his sister.

Kyung is on friendly terms with two classmates, Taniguchi and Kunikida. He is at the age when guys are beginning to be interested in the opposite sex. Therefore, Kyung interacts with all the girls of the club with pleasure, giving preference to one of them in different situations. However, he does not take any steps to bond with the girls.

Of all the members of the SOS team, Kyung is the only person without superpowers.

Mikuru Asahina

Mikuru Asahina

Mikuru Asahina- a student of the second grade of high school. Mikuru is one year older than all the members of the club, but her doll-like appearance and shyness make her the most timid and driven. Asahina is very beautiful, and her modesty and pliability make her even more attractive in the eyes of men.

Mikuru gets into the club because Haruhi decided that there should be a beautiful girl with big breasts on the team. Unable to argue with the brisk head of the club, Mikuru endures all her abuse of herself. In particular, Haruhi forces the girl to be present in the club room only in sexy maid and nurse outfits. To attract people to the circle, Mikuru was forced to hand out leaflets in a revealing bunny costume. Haruhi shamelessly undresses Mikuru, checks the size of her breasts, takes pictures for posting on the site.

In fact, Mikuru Asahina is a guest from the future. She came to the past to observe Haruhi Suzumiya in order to prevent the catastrophe that she would cause over the years with her bad mood.

Yuki Nogato

Yuki Nogato

Yuki Nogato- a high school student. Yuki got into the "SOS" team "in the load" to the club room. Previously, this room housed a literary circle. Due to the graduation of its other members, Yuki was left alone in the now defunct club. She just came into the room and read quietly in the corner when Haruhi decided to take over the room. Thus, Yuki became a member of the extravagant Suzumiya's team.

Yuki only takes part in the activities of the club when she is encouraged to do so by Haruhi. The rest of the time she does not take the initiative and does not enter into any contact with the members of the club. Yuki answers questions in monosyllables, nullifying any attempt to establish communication with her.

Nogato's hobby is reading. It is very difficult to imagine her without a book in her hands. In the future, Yuki also discovers a passion for computer programming. This happens when she breaks into the game while competing with the members of the computer club. Yuki seems indifferent to everything. However, when Kyung notices that she is prettier without glasses, the girl no longer puts them on.

In simple terms, Yuki is an alien. It is a humanoid interface for a certain consciousness, designed to monitor Haruhi Suzumiya. Yuki saves Kyon from being attacked by another humanoid interface.

Itski Koizumi

Itski Koizumi

Itski Koizumi- a high school student. The only one of all the members joins the club of his own free will. Itski is always in a good mood. Most often, an ingenuous smile wanders on his face, but Kyon, who analyzes everything that happens, Itski from the very beginning seems to be the one who hides more than one skeleton in the closet.

Itsuki's real reason for joining the circle is to observe the mood of Haruhi Suzumiya. Itski is a psychic, and his psychic abilities are extremely specific. Under normal circumstances, a guy is just as ordinary a person as others. However, when the closed space of Haruhi arises, he, together with his fellow psychics, enters into a fight with a monster that destroys everything inside the space.

Itsuki is most concerned about the changes in Suzumiya's state of mind. Therefore, he often invents general leisure for club members, thereby placing Haruhi in circumstances in which she can simulate unusual occurrences.

Other students

Ryouko Asakura

Ryouko Asakura

Ryouko Asakura- Haruhi and Kyon's classmate, head of the class. In addition to the fact that Ryouko always succeeds in all subjects, is a prefect, an activist and an excellent student, she is also a beauty that many schoolchildren dream of.

Ryouko had a lot of interest in Suzumiya and often asked her only friend, Kyon, about her. As it turned out later, this was necessary for her, since Ryouko is the same humanoid interface as Yuuki. However, unlike Nogato, Asakura did not want to contain Haruhi's emotions, but rather to stimulate them in order to see what Haruhi is capable of. Attacks Kyon, but is killed by Yuuki.

Taniguchi

Taniguchi

Taniguchi- Kyon's classmate and close friend. Taniguchi is most concerned with the opposite sex. He has his own attractiveness scale by which he rates girls in his class. He studied with Haruhi in high school, so he immediately warns Kyon not to mess with the girl. Taniguchi was one of her boyfriends, and their relationship did not last even a day, which remained an unpleasant memory in him. The schoolboy took part in a baseball tournament with the SOS team, and also starred in Haruhi's film as a zombie.

Kunikida

Kunikida

Kunikida- Kyon's classmate and close friend. Kunikida looks younger than his age, like many guys at his age who do not keep up with girls in physical development. Kunikida is more modest than his friend Taniguchi, but he participates on an equal footing with his friend in observing the girls of the school. Kunikida took part in the filming of Haruhi's film and in a baseball game.

Tsuruya

Tsuruya- High school student, friend of Mikuru Asahina. Tsuruya, along with Taniguchi and Kunikida, plays a zombie in Suzumiya's film, and also participates in a baseball match. The girl cannot take any of Haruhi's ideas seriously. During filming, she now and then rolls with laughter. She is amused by the seriousness of the situation, the costumes, the plot of the film, the acting. During the school festival, she dresses up as a maid, which also makes her extremely amused. This is a lively girl without complexes. Despite his sarcastic attitude towards Haruhi's ideas, Tsuruya enjoys participating in them.

Head of the computer club

Head of the computer club

Head of the computer club- a schoolboy, whose name is not called in the series. The head of the club suffers losses due to the fault of Haruhi. By deception and blackmail, Suzumiya knocks out the most modern computer from him. To take revenge on the offender and return the property, the student conceives a competition in a computer game developed by his club. During the game, the SOS team understands that they were cheated and the computer club has an advantage. Yuki hacks the game, the SOS team wins, and the poor fellow from the computer circle is forced to transfer 4 more computers to Haruhi's possession.

Kyung's sister

Kyung's sister

Kyung's sister- no one says the name of the girl in the series. Everyone calls her "baby" or "baby". Kyung's younger sister is an ordinary girl, an elementary school student. She loves Kyung and his friends, so she tries to spend time with them more often. In the absence of the required number of members for the baseball team, Kyung allows his sister to play along with the SOS team. Also, the little girl followed her brother and went on vacation to a secluded villa located on the island. A fragile physique helped her fit into a suitcase, from where Kyung rescued her in the hallway of the house, but was forced to take his sister with him so that she would not throw a tantrum. The girl is especially close to Mikuru Asahina.

Recently I was going to make a favorite review of "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya", but in the process of creating I remembered one very interesting article and different views on the world of anime itself.

SPOILER

Everything and everything and, in particular, the plot of "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya"

Theory 1. Classical boring.

Essence: Everything is as it seems

Everything is exactly as it seems. Haruhi Suzumiya is a god, or has divine powers. Asahina-san, Nagato, and Koizumi were indeed created three years ago to allay her boredom. Kyung gets into this company by accident because Haruhi falls in love with him.

The theory is called classical because in one way or another all the characters in the books about Melancholy converge on it.

Despite the fact that the theory explains a lot, and, in fact, is the basis for all the reasoning of the heroes of “Melancholy” and subsequent books, it just shows through holes. The most basic is the “unhappy Haruhi's paradox” - after all, Haruhi suffers the most. She does not notice all the miracles around and there are absolutely no adventures left for her. She does not find aliens and stuff, and all her otherworldly endeavors fail.

Variations:

1. Haruhi is not a god, but a real god is trying to entertain her.

No practical difference until this god somehow manifests itself. But this theory is supported by the message to heaven left by Haruhi three years ago. After all, it was three years ago that everything started - at least as far as we know.

2. The kyon did not get in the way, but was created by Haruhi herself - so that she had someone to fall in love with.

There is no practical difference, at least for Kyon.

3. Haruhi is truly happy only while she is looking for aliens, but she will immediately get bored when she finds them. Therefore, the subconscious (or external god) does not allow her to find anyone.

Possible explanation for the "paradox of unhappy Haruhi".

✯ ✯ ✯ ✯ ✯

Theory 1.2. Classic zen

Essence: Through hardships to the stars

Having received the prayer for the existence of the supernormal three years ago, the deity (whatever it really is) directly created the extranormal, and in such a way as to please Haruhi without destroying everything else. Haruhi, however, was unable to find the one she was looking for, even though it was within reach.

The theory's explanation for the “unfortunate Haruhi's paradox” is as follows: an external god (or a very independent subconscious of Haruhi) did not aim to entertain Haruhi, immediately giving her candy in the form of aliens and so on. They wanted to teach her something, make her take some steps on her own.

All events happening to Haruhi, thus, can be considered as a kind of school of life, designed to make her change in a certain way, grow up, become worthy of meeting with aliens and so on, or simply learn to love an individual person, and put his personality more important than his role - he is an alien or psychic.

Variations:

1. The real god is ... (Haruhino subconsciousness / Kyon / Tsuruya / Hikoboshi and Orihime / ...).

There is no practical difference, although the version with Harukhin's subconscious seems unlikely. It is also possible that the real external god pursued several different goals - for example, to raise Haruhi, and to entertain Kyon with Tsuruya at the same time.

✯ ✯ ✯ ✯ ✯

Theory 2. Romantic.

Essence: He will climb into the night sky, burn all his fingers, but soon the constellation Lida will rise over the quiet Earth

Haruhi Suzumiya is an ordinary schoolgirl, like Asahina-san, Nagato, Koizumi and others. All magical, unusual and paranormal adventures are invented by Kyung as a romantic legend for the girl he is in love with. For Haruhi, because she adores aliens, aliens, psychics and misses without adventure.

Variations:

1. Kyung's invention did come true as Kyung possessed divine power.

See the theory of kenocentrism.

✯ ✯ ✯ ✯ ✯

Theory 3. Kenocentric.

The bottom line: I've always liked supporting roles better.

Kyung is a real god, or has divine powers. He is too cynical, reasonable and smart to do stupid things, but deep down he dreams of adventure. Therefore, his subconscious creates for him Haruhi Suzumiya, the personification of his hidden desires. Kyon wins everywhere: Haruhi draws him into adventures, but you can always blame her and grumble on her, and a fidget is never offended by this.

However, when Nagato changes the world with some abilities and Kyung gets the opportunity to give up adventure, he has to admit to himself that he likes the adventure.

An argument in favor of such a theory is the prologue to “The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya,” where Kyung talks about how from childhood he always dreamed of adventure, but in such a way as to be on the sidelines.

Another argument is that Kyung is the only one of the entire "SOS Team" is in full and unconditional positive: he gets long-awaited adventures, the most beautiful girl in school, the smartest girl in school, the most reckless girl in school and a good friend. He is constantly in the whirl of events and he has no time to get bored. Unlike Haruhi. Her suffering is described in the "paradox of unhappy Haruhi", and detailed in the classical theory.

Variations:

1. Kyung is not a god, but a real god helps him.

No practical difference until this god begins to act on his own.

2. Kyung didn't create Haruhi. He fell in love with her, and created all these adventures for her. (See Romantic Theory.) But then it’s not clear why Haruhi didn’t get anything from these adventures.

Possible explanation - Kyung believed that Haruhi would be better this way, compared to classical theories.

3. Kyon is just one of many gods on earth.

4. An alternative to the “subconscious” hypothesis: Kyon prepared an adventure (in the person of Haruhi, endowing her with divine powers), and then erased his memory.

This theory is supported, for example, by hints in the seventh volume, where Kyung repeatedly discusses how fragile memory is. Quite possibly, Kyung thinks, I've already experienced moments that I later forgot.

5. Kyon and Haruhi are part of one whole.

See the theory of divine dualism.

✯ ✯ ✯ ✯ ✯

Theory 3.1. Kenocentric fix.

The bottom line: Who is the extreme king here?

Kyung is indeed a god, and not only that: the rest of the SOS Brigade is actually not hunting for Haruhi, but for him. Haruhi did not give up to them for nothing.

Kyung himself is unaware. Koizumi gently and carefully tries to lead him to the right thoughts, but Kyung always gets out, stubbornly considering Koizumi's reasoning not worthy of attention. In fact, it is his subconscious that protects him, preventing him from understanding the truth.

In the seventh volume, talking to Kyon, Koizumi makes a completely unambiguous hint of this particular version:

// - Perhaps it is not Suzumiya-san who possesses omnipotence, but someone else?

Koizumi was probably trying to add a little sarcasm to his smile, but it looked completely ordinary:

- The eye of the hurricane is very calm, but the elements are raging around it. Maybe someone would prefer to watch the unfolding turmoil from the sidelines. Here you are, for example, all the time in business; would a puppeteer hide under the guise of such a character who has so many things?

Well, here he is again with his incomprehensible statements. But since I am in his debt, I will listen. Although I can't promise I'll remember anything; if I could remember this, my grades in school would have improved long ago.

It's quite obvious that Kyung doesn't take the hints at all.

Among other things, if you look closely, the members of the SOS Brigade are often more interested in Kyon's opinion than Haruhi's. It is possible that their current characters are just masks that they use to win Kyon's favor. For more on this, see the "evil SOS Brigade" theory.

Variations:

1. Nagato, Asahina and Koizumi think that their target is Haruhi. The authorities do not inform them that the real god is Kyung.

In light of the main arguments, this is not a very plausible version.

2. Haruhi is the bait to get Kyon. The rest of the "Brigade" takes advantage of her naivety, instilling in her belief in the supernatural.

✯ ✯ ✯ ✯ ✯

Theory 3.2. Divine dualism.

Essence: More fun together

Haruhi and Kyon are two halves of a god, separately imperfect. Haruhi gets recklessness and impulsiveness, and Kyung gets prudence and cynicism. Since both are only parts of a whole, neither can use their full divine power. However, here Haruhi gets some of the former abilities, and Kyon, the knowledge of the presence of these abilities. Thus, everyone is powerless without the other.

Probably, the splitting into two halves occurred at the request of God himself. Perhaps he became bored with having absolute power, and he wanted to make life unpredictable and difficult, depriving himself of some of his strength. And so that the world does not fall apart, the remaining forces were divided so that they balance each other.

Variations:

1. God did not lose strength of his own free will, but was defeated.

See “Titan Downfall Hypothesis”.

2. The original god was / was Haruhi / Kyon, and the other half she / he created in addition to themselves.

There is no practical difference, but you can look at the “classical” or “kenocentric” theory, respectively.

✯ ✯ ✯ ✯ ✯

Theory 3.3. Downcast titans hypothesis

The bottom line: Ah, the Decembrists! .. Don't wake Herzen! ..

God lost his strength not of his own free will. He was defeated by the enemy and divided into parts so as not to pose a threat - since it is impossible to kill a god.

If everything happened like this, then it becomes clear why life spun around Haruhi only at the moment when she became friends with Kyon: still, there was a danger that God would be reborn! Up to this point, Koizumi's "Organization", the people from the future who sent Mikuru into the past, and Nagato's integral thought-essence were just passively watching Haruhi - and probably Kyon as well.

This theory is particularly good at explaining why all three organizations are so afraid of Haruchin's wrath. After all, if the world is destroyed and revived anew, this will not only mark the restoration of divine powers, but it will also be a death sentence for those who kept God under lock and key. Strictly opposite to what the various parties claim, the new world is likely to have no aliens, no time travelers, no psychics. It will be a completely normal, normal world - just the kind that Kyung dreams of.

Variations:

1. Koizumi / Mikuru / Nagato are actually not what they seem.

For more on this see the theory of the "evil SOS Brigade"

✯ ✯ ✯ ✯ ✯

Theory 4. Tsuruistic.

The bottom line: I do not mind just looking from the side.

Tsuruya-san is a god who is very, very bored. She gives Haruhi Suzumiya, Asahina-san, Nagato and Koizumi super powers, and of course Kyon for his healthy cynicism. And then, she sits down in front of an imaginary TV and pulls out an imaginary popcorn.

In the seventh volume, "The Conspiracies of Haruhi Suzumiya", it is revealed that Tsuruya-san is well aware of almost everything that is happening around Haruhi Suzmiya - including all the members of her team. However, this does not bother her at all. Tsuruya-san claims that she is fine without other people's secrets. She doesn't mind just looking quietly from the sidelines.

Variations:

1. Tsuruya-san created Haruhi and others from scratch.

2. She did it to entertain her friend Mikurochka.

3. Tsuruya-san quietly loves Kyon, and did it for him so that he would not get bored.

4. Tsuruya-san is not the only god.

See polytheistic theory.

✯ ✯ ✯ ✯ ✯

Theory 5. Polytheistic.

The bottom line: We are the gods.

There are many people on earth or in the universe who have divine powers. Some of them are still unknown, while others have already been mentioned in books. Where all these divine abilities came from is unknown. There is a possibility that they were gifted by some more powerful deity. Or maybe people with divine abilities are the embodiment of the gods.

Variations:

1. Kyon and Tsuruya got divine abilities, and Haruhi is just Kyon's ward.

Compare with kenocentric and tsuruistic theories.

✯ ✯ ✯ ✯ ✯

Theory 6.1. Giveaway game.

The bottom line: I know what you did last summer.

Haruhi understands everything: that she is surrounded by aliens, psychics and time travelers. After all, how can you not understand this, being with them around the clock! It's just that Haruhi really likes to have fun watching this whirlpool of events spin around her. Including how Kyung is suffering, trying to hide the obvious from her.

✯ ✯ ✯ ✯ ✯

Theory 6.2. Conspiracy.

The bottom line: All this lies.

Once, Asahina-san, Koizumi and Nagato met by chance on the street, drank a cup of coffee (or any other drink), and confessed to each other that they were an alien, a time traveler and a psychic. And then they came up with a great idea.

They told Kyon that Haruhi was a goddess and needed to be kept in check. To Haruhi, they said exactly the same thing about Kyon. After that, all three began to have fun, who is in what is great: create closed spaces with titans, scare Kyon with Asakura with knives and jump back and forth, from the future to the past.

Variations:

1. Haruhi they didn't say anything like that. Haruhi is with them herself.

Compare with theory number six.

✯ ✯ ✯ ✯ ✯

Theory 6.3. Evil SOS Brigade.

Essence: My second self.

The members of the SOS Brigade are not at all who they claim to be. They only play their roles, adjusting to Kyon's tastes.

For example, Nagato practically takes him for the master, following absolutely all his instructions and expecting his consent in all. On his advice, she gave up wearing glasses, only he opened the door in the story "Lonely Island Syndrome." On the other hand, she carries out Haruhi's orders with obvious disdain as part of her inevitable and unloved duties.

One of the possible reasons for this is “Nagato + Kyon = love”, the other is that she is trying to please him because she wants to win his favor.

But Nagato may well deliberately act the way Kyung likes it.

In addition, the Asakura Ryouko incident is suggestive of the classic Good Cop, Bad Cop scheme. Asakura attacks Kyon with a knife, Nagato rescues him and earns points in Kyon's eyes. With this, she is the first of the entire brigade to prove the truth of her words. Isn't it a perfect circuit?

However, when Nagato creates his "ideal world" in the fourth volume, Asakura is resurrected in it.

It becomes clear that the behavior of the cold-blooded alien is illogical and does not fit well with its possible motives.

Same with Mikuru: Koizumi mentioned that Mikuru's appearance and demeanor may well be tailored by people from the future so that Kyon would like her. It makes sense: why else send such a clumsy and helpless girl into the past?

Although Koizumi himself has repeatedly said that winning Kyon's favor would be a great success for him. Thus, Koizumi is probably the most honest of the three mysterious team members - although he looks like a cheat at first glance.

Variations:

1. Koizumi, Mikuru and Nagato fight for Kyon, as he is the real god.

See the theory of kenocentrism

2. Haruhi and Kyon are only parts of a single god, separated and devoid of powers. The SOS Brigade is trying to prevent their reunification.

See the Downed Titan Hypothesis

3. Nagato tries to win Kyung's favor not for the sake of malice, but out of the kindness of his soul.

See the addition "Kyung + Nagato = love".

✯ ✯ ✯ ✯ ✯

Theory 7. Slider.

The bottom line: Announce the entire list, please.

Kyung is a slider, a guest from a parallel world. Haruhi Suzumiya wanted to meet "aliens, time travelers, psychics or guests from a parallel world." The alien, psychic and time traveler are Nagato, Koizumi and Mikuru. And it is perfectly logical to assume that the remaining, fourth member of the SOS Brigade is the missing link, the slider.

3. Kyung is an accidental traveler from a parallel world who lost his car for traveling, and deliberately erased his memory so as not to be in despair that he could not return home.

✯ ✯ ✯ ✯ ✯

Supplements

Mikuru is Kyon's sister

Also, one of the hypotheses says that Mikuru is Kyon's sister. There are not too many reasons to think so. The girls share a common affection for Kyon. In addition, Mikuru's age, although it remains a mystery, is roughly the same as possible.

If we assume that Mikuru is Kyon's sister, then her personal affection for the saved boy, Haruhi's acquaintance, the future inventor of the time machine, becomes clear. In this case, Kyung's matured sister will be about the same age, and may even know him personally.

In addition, this hypothesis explains well why Mikuru studiously avoids any development of the relationship between her and Kyon, as well as Kyon's unreasonable attachment to her.

✯ ✯ ✯ ✯ ✯

Nagato + Kyung = love

Almost all the stories and books from the series about Haruhi Suzumiya affect Nagato in one way or another. The accents in her direction are sometimes so strong that one can only guess - perhaps it is Nagato who is most interested in Kyon?

In Falling in Love at First Sight, Kyung openly admits that he worries about Nagato the most:

Over the past few months since our meeting, we have gone through a lot with Nagato. Although, of course, I went through a lot with Haruhi, Asahina-san and Koizumi, it seems that we have much more common memories with Nagato. In fact, almost any incident during this time was somehow connected with her. And somehow it turns out that I worry about her much more than about anyone on the team.

A review for both seasons, one at a time there is no point in writing (as well as watching). There are no spoilers for the plot.
It is easy to understand from the title that this title will definitely suit a melancholic mood. This is one of the few anime in this genre that leaves a pleasant feeling on the soul after watching. And it should be taken just as everyday with accompanying elements of comedy and a pinch of banter (about which already wrote the reviews above).
About viewing order- the tv-order (in which it was released and the majority watched this creation for the first time) can scare away an unprepared viewer, but the chronological order is much more interesting when you watched in the order of the exit some time ago. So the order of viewing is as you like (Although the same gatari in chrono order is almost an ordinary harem).
I can especially note the lack of a sense of falsehood when watching, which haunts me when watching a lot of new titles. It arises from actions that are completely uncharacteristic of the characters in the story, there is no such thing, their development proceeds evenly, along with the plot.
Infinite eight- the main stumbling block on the way to complete the story

You can safely skip at the 1st viewing (look at the 1st and 8th parts, respectively),

This is a rather bold experiment of the studio, which caused a ton of negativity from the majority, although I liked this approach, it came out somewhat comically.
I was outraged by negative new reviews

Although the taste and color, as they say

Hello, how many anime have functioning fan sites with a serial analysis of little things and references? but? but? but? (I'm talking about the sos-dan site). Moreover, anime that came out more than 10 years ago.
Best viewed in excellent quality

BD, although not everything is redrawn, it looks very good

And with the voice acting of Reanimedia (there is no point in listening to the fandab when it exists).
Well IMHO: the title is either viewed in the first 20k of the viewed one, or far from the first hundred (although I did both actions at the same time and do not regret it). Because you can not taste it at all and just waste your time. Beginners will like it just as a good title, and oldies will be able to see those highlights that are visible only to an experienced eye. Although it already depends on the person. Also, not all the stories from the books have been filmed, they say there is still a lot of sweet left.
Good luck.

Definitely a good anime in the genre of everyday life and school, which I put off for a long time for some unknown reason.
Plot:
One of its main advantages is the narration from the side of the thoughts of the GG, thanks to which, from the first episode, I already learn about his personality and past life.
It also creates a lively atmosphere and does not make watching anime boring, as if you are living the life of Ken.
The fantastic composition of this plot is not to say that it is right at the height, but it surprised me.
All the same, the concept of a mechanism for changing the universe to suit Haruhi's mood. The creation of closed spaces due to her unstable emotional state. The desire of the characters to raise her mood in order to preserve this world.
It all looks very unusual and strange against the background of fun everyday life.
Characters:
Not to say that they are somehow sympathetic, but they also do not look the same and dull.
The same Haruhi with her changes in mood from unbridled enthusiasm and fun to melancholy
.
Ken with his attitude to the supernatural and his desire to live a normal life.
wwwww
Mikuru who fits perfectly into the SOS team as a moe and has classified information.

Itsuki and his desire to make Haruhi happy, while being aware of his position and reflecting on the essence of things.
Yuuki who is an ordinary kudere, but at the same time is mysterious in her origin.
In general, all of them are united by Haruhi, and the key link in their unification is Ken, who, as strange as it may sound, was accidentally confused in this mysterious story.
Sounds:
The opening and music in the background fits very well into the situation and the meaning of this anime, the ending is like that.
Panache:
I think it is worth counting it as one of the important advantages, no matter how like the title of 2006 and for those years, not everyone could boast of such a level of detail of characters and objects.
Comedy:
As a comedy title, it cheers up quite well and does not actually allow you to plunge into melancholy, some moments were really funny.
But for her sake, I would not recommend this anime, I think there is something better in this genre.
Everyday life:
Here it is simply excellent, the authors were able to show the seemingly ordinary everyday moments without departing from the plot and concept, but at the same time show interesting things against the background.
For example, the daily series with a trip to Keiichi Tamaru's villa took on a detective character and turned into a practical joke to prevent Haruhi's melancholy.

Or the last three episodes with ordinary everyday life, which turned into a problem of stuck time for them.
In general, looking at such everyday life is definitely not boring!
Outcome:
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya is a cult anime that everyone should watch.
In it, you can find a way to escape depression and problems by watching the adventures of the SOS team.
wwwww, or just spend time with good everyday life and lively atmosphere.
Perhaps you will like in it some weirdness and mysteriousness of the plot, which will lead to thought and immerse you in them.
Of course, this is not a 10/10 masterpiece and the title has its own problems, such as undisclosed subtleties of the plot or ambiguity about what exactly the anime is about.

I hope Season 2 will help me understand this and reveal these secrets for me.
8/10!

Kyon

Kyung is Haruhi's classmate and the second founding member of Team SOS. For some time now, in the minds of those around him, he has been inextricably linked with Haruhi, since he is the only one with whom she maintains a dialogue. Cynical, with constant sarcasm in his voice, Kyung is the only adequate person on Suzumiya's team. Sometimes he has to correct the consequences of Haruhi's excessive enthusiasm, he - “ SOS team conscience».
It also does a lot of dirty work for the SOS team.

Origin

Despite the fact that the main character of the series is Suzumiya Haruhi, the story is told from Kyon's eyes. With sarcasm in his voice, he talks about various incidents involving Haruhi.

Sometimes it is difficult to determine at what moment he speaks, and at what moment he thinks to himself - Haruhi quite often answers his thoughts out loud. This is the author's idea.

Kyon's oddities do not end there - not every student in grade 10 thinks the way he does. From time to time he refers to mythology, the laws of physics, and even Freud. Despite all the nagging and complaints, his actions are not always in harmony with reason. Kyung is the only "normal" person on the SOS team. Nevertheless, he feels quite comfortable in the company of an alien, a guest from the future and a psychic. Ever since Haruhi stated that “I don’t care about ordinary people,” strange personalities began to appear around Kyon, who did not really fit into the rational picture of the world. Koizumi gently and carefully tries to lead him to the right thoughts, but Kyung always gets out, stubbornly considering Koizumi's reasoning not worthy of attention. In fact, Kyung is protecting his own subconscious mind, preventing him from understanding the truth. Nagato speaks of Kyon as "an external factor that has been affecting Haruhi Suzumiya for some time now." Asakura took advantage of this, believing that killing him would cause a huge stream of data from Suzumiya, which is what the aliens need. Note: In an interview with Nagaru, Tanigawa reveals that Kyung was originally conceived as a telepath, but then he changed his mind and made him "an ordinary person."

Name

« Kyung"- actually a nickname, not a name. It was "presented" to Kyon by his aunt, and spread throughout the school by his younger sister, who thus maliciously took revenge on Kyon for his dislike of the address "Onii-chan" ("brother"). His real name is kept secret. Fun Fact: In the Korean version of the Tanabata legend, the name of the shepherd the princess fell in love with is Kyonu.

Note: Kyung mentions a name John Smith but that's just another alias. However, he played a key role in the fourth volume ( Disappearance of Suzumiya Haruhi)

Role in the team

Kyung's cynical and calm voice in most cases turns out to be decisive in the SOS team (and in many ways, fair). He often interferes with Haruhi's actions when she goes too far. Despite the sarcasm, this opportunity was given only to him, most of the other members of the brigade are only passive observers who unquestioningly follow the orders of Suzumiya. Kyung often pays for lunch at cafes and also performs “ dirty work"(As a cameraman in a film or as a website creator). Nonetheless, he remains loyal to Haruhi and her gang, and it is not hard to realize that he is the most loyal of all the members. Kyung is the only one who can stop Haruhi from realizing her crazy ideas. Same
he is responsible for calming Haruhi in times of anger or depression. As Koizumi says, “ We are responsible for what happens in the closed realities, and you are responsible for what happens in the ordinary world, since you are the only one who can keep Suzumiya-san's mental state stable and prevent the emergence of closed realities.". Kyung becomes “ window"Into Haruhi's world, so he engages in many mysterious adventures that usually involve removing the confusion that Haruhi's Suzumiya subconsciously creates. Constant complaints and discontent do not prevent him from staying with Haruhi and her team, although the opportunity to refuse was more than once. Deliberately, he attributes this to responsibility for saving Yuuki and Mikuru by protecting them from Haruhi's insidious plans. Subsequently, his life became unthinkable without the SOS brigade, he admits this to himself. It is believed that the "god" is actually not Haruhi, but Kyon. The main reason for this version is the prologue to Episode 2, when Kyung thinks, “ Deep down, I dreamed that aliens, monsters, psychics and devilish geniuses with their devilish organizations would one day burst into my gray, boring life - and make it exciting; I would very much like to live in such a world!". If we accept this point of view, then the powers that Haruhi possesses were actually endowed by Kyung. And it only happened because he didn't want to be in the center attention, wanted to become a minor character. Nevertheless, the adventures in which he has to participate may well be called "divine". But the rest are unaware of this - so all the mysterious organizations build their theories around Suzumiya. More about the theory « Kyonocentrism»And others you can read on this page.

Relationship

Since he spoke to Haruhi, Kyung has become her best friend (and more). According to Koizumi, he is "chosen" by Suzumiya-san - Kyon becomes the only person that Haruhi will take to the new world. All three "unusual" crew members reveal their true selves to Kyon. All three believe that through Kyon it is possible affect Haruhi without the risk of destroying the world due to another depression. For them, Kyon became Haruhi's "monitoring screen". Yuki the first reveals its nature to Kön. Since then, he considers her the most reliable of the trinity, which cannot be said about Koizumi. After the incident with Asakura's attack, Kyon feels responsible for Nagato - without her, he would have been killed long ago, or lost in the endless ramifications of the time axis. Despite Yuuki's lack of external emotions, Kyung eventually begins to notice them. In The Day of Sagittarius, Kyung says, “ Maybe it seems to me, but you seem to enjoy"While playing with the Computer Society. With Asahina relations develop in a slightly different way. He considers it his duty to protect her from the treacherous hands of Haruhi, however, like any guy, he quietly admires her. Asahina became for Kyon something of an angel, without whom life would seem like a living hell. Kyung even hides pictures of her taken by Haruhi to attract visitors to the site. Haruhi, however, realized this - so her resentment grew. Older version of Asahina warns Kyon not to “get close to me,” but makes the fatal mistake of showing the star-shaped birthmark to prove it. This creates a time loop of the following type: Elder Asahina's careless words drew Kyon's attention to her birthmark ( in fact, it was a prediction of the future for Kyon). Because of this, Kyung drew the younger Asahina's attention to this mole, which was later interpreted by the elder Asahina as “ Didn't you tell me about it?". Any information containing information about upcoming events will cause such a time loop (in other words, predicting the future will change the future itself). For this reason, the younger Asahina answers every time “ closed Information»To Kyon's questions. Itsuki for Kyon is the main source of information, as is Yuki. In addition to his unusual abilities to penetrate closed realities, he unconsciously acquires some knowledge about Suzumiya, which he tells Kyon about. As two guys, they often interact with each other, usually about Haruhi and her inclinations, while the others are busy with other things. Although Kyung is a philosopher in his subconscious, he is not particularly pleased with Koizumi's philosophical conclusions, which he most often calls "Not worthy of attention." This is largely due to tight smile, which he keeps constantly ( he does this on purpose to keep Haruhi's mind stable.). He is also annoyed by Itsuki's tendency to constantly get close to him, violating his personal space.
